Hon Aful Kofi Benteh Funds Free Surgery Outreach for Constituents

The Member of Parliament for, Hon Aful Kofi Benteh, has sponsored a free surgical outreach program aimed at providing life-saving medical care to underprivileged constituents who cannot afford treatment.

The initiative, which forms part of the MP’s commitment to improving healthcare access in the area, covered the full cost of surgeries, medications, and post-operative care for selected beneficiaries. Medical professionals drawn from Green shield hospital carried out the procedures, which included  of hernia repairs, eye surgeries, goitre removal among others.

Speaking at the opening of the exercise, Mr Banabas Gyamfi said the intervention was motivated by the financial difficulties many residents face when seeking specialist medical attention. “Healthcare should not be a privilege for a few. This outreach is to ensure that no one in our constituency suffers or dies because they cannot pay for surgery,” he stated.

The program is expected to benefit over residents across communities, villages within constituency. Beneficiaries were first screened during an earlier health outreach where cases requiring surgical intervention were identified.

Healthcare workers involved in the exercise commended the MP for complementing government efforts to expand primary and specialist care at the district level. They also urged other leaders and corporate bodies to support similar interventions to reduce the backlog of untreated surgical cases in rural Ghana.

The outreach aligns with a growing trend of Ghanaian MPs and community leaders partnering with medical teams to deliver free healthcare services, particularly in areas where specialist facilities are limited.
