CHRAJ Trains MoFA Officers on Ethics, Integrity and Asset Declaration to Strengthen Accountability

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), in collaboration with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), has held a two-day training for directors and officers of the Ministry on Code of Conduct, Ethics and Integrity.

The training, held from 11th to 14th August 2026 in Accra, was organised under the leadership of the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku. It forms part of government’s wider efforts to promote transparency, accountability and ethical conduct in the public service.

Participants were taken through key areas including ethical leadership, asset declaration, conflict of interest, the Gift Policy, and Ghana’s anti-corruption framework.

Addressing the officers, CHRAJ Commissioner, Mr. Joseph Akanjolor Whittal, urged public officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity and to comply with their legal obligations.

“Public trust depends on how we conduct ourselves. Officers must take seriously the declaration of assets and liabilities, avoid conflicts of interest, and be guided by the ethics that bind the public service,” he said.

Chief Director of MoFA, Mr. Paul Siameh, expressed appreciation to CHRAJ for selecting the Ministry as one of the five institutions to benefit from the training this year.

He charged participants to take the asset declaration process seriously to avoid potential legal and administrative complications.

“This training comes at the right time. As we work to transform agriculture, we must also ensure that our operations are guided by integrity and transparency,” Mr. Siameh stated.

The engagement is expected to equip MoFA directors and officers with practical tools to identify ethical dilemmas, manage conflicts of interest, and ensure compliance with national anti-corruption laws.

CHRAJ noted that similar trainings will be rolled out to other ministries and agencies as part of efforts to build an ethical and accountable public service ahead of the 2028 development agenda.
